Undergoing revisional weight loss surgery is a significant decision, even more so than the initial procedure. For many patients, weight loss surgery provides long-term weight loss with improvement of health and quality of life. For some patients, however, their weight loss surgery does not always provide the desired results. For these patients, revisional bariatric surgery may be an option.

Revisional bariatric surgery is surgery performed on patients that have undergone previous weight loss surgery but have experienced one or more of the following:

  • Insufficient weight loss
  • Weight regain after achieving weight loss goals
  • Complications from previous surgery
  • Unsuccessful resolution of comorbidities such as diabetes and high blood pressure for example
