Dr. Jonathan Klonsky
Dr. Jonathan Klonsky completed his General Surgery Residency at The Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, in Brooklyn, NY, where he also served as Chief Resident. Early in his training he developed an affinity for laparoscopy and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Klonsky completed a one year Research Fellowship with the Advanced Medical Technologies Institute at the Beth Israel Hospital Medical Center, New York, NY, where he played an integral role in the education and instruction of advanced laparoscopic skills to surgeons throughout the country. He went on to complete Fellowship Training in Advanced Laparoscopic, GI, and Bariatric Surgery at University of South Florida/Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, FL, and returned home to his native Long Island to practice with us here in our Port Jefferson office, with privileges at the JT Mather Memorial Hospital as well as St. Charles Hospital.
In addition to a special interest in the surgical management of morbid obesity, Dr. Klonsky’s surgical skills also encompass a wide variety of minimally invasive procedures, including foregut, hindgut, abdominal wall and solid organ pathology. He is a member of several professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and has been published in such journals as Surgical Endoscopy, Archives of Surgery, Insulin and the Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
